Nancy Schmidt, originally of Merritt Island, formerly a missionary to Haiti, and now a church planter in Germany, has written a book of her testimony entitled, An Indescribable Gift.  Nancy has previously ministered to the residents at Casa Carol who soaked up her every word.   When her book was finished, by God’s timing, just in time, Nancy chose to debut her book among this intimate setting of women.   Each received a copy, directly from the hand of the author.  She read passages, wrote special notes, and shared her heart with the ladies.  To learn more about the book, and to order one or more, contact Nancy at NandieMinistries@googlemail.com.

This represents 1200 hours of class and hands-on training for her future career. She is now studying diligently to take her Board Testing, and hopes to have her Cosmetology License this month.

Traci was in an auto accident over the Christmas holidays (driver on I95 changed lanes into her path, and Traci went off road to avoid her).  Her 7 year old son Ola describes how, during the accident, he prayed to God to protect his family and God was faithful!

Traci’s was able to pay for her auto repairs with money she had in her Casa Carol savings account. During the time the car was in the shop, she rode a bicycle (in these night temperatures in the 40’s) to her job at Taco Bell where she maintained near full-time hours, all with a ‘can-do’ attitude.  We are so proud of Traci and what God is doing in the life of her family!

Pastor Corky Calhoun and the church leadership designated Brevard Rescue Mission as one of four organizations and ministries to receive gifts through their Simple Christmas project.  Church members were encouraged to take the focus off of elaborate Christmas gift-giving by spending more time with family and friends while focusing on the birth of Christ and redirecting resources to causes that make a difference in the community.

BRM is further blessed by the many Georgianna members who are very involved as volunteers. This is a gift too valuable to measure and blesses our residents and staff throughout the year!

The season started off with a Christmas Talent Show that included every mother and child at Casa Carol, showcasing their God-given gifts such as poetry, singing, dancing, musical instrument skill and reading scripture.

With the gracious hearts of ABC Construction, Watersong Retirement Community along with delivery services from Love Inc.’s Dan Walker, brand new bikes were donated for all the children at Casa Carol.

The Peery family and “God’s Girls” hosted the second annual “Happy Birthday Jesus” party to remind the children of the true reason for the season. Fun, games, gifts, and treats were offered!

Autumn House residents created “Noah’s Ark” stuffed animals for the children giving each animal their own ‘birth certificate’.  The children at Casa Carol embraced their new friends with joy!

St John’s Episcopal Church hosted a glorious Christmas Party with delicious pizza and games provided by Pizza Gallery and Grill under the direction of Elizabeth Murray and Ivy Iverson.

Generous donations were also received from the Philanthropic Educational Organization, The Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court Brevard Chapter, United Launch Alliance and Friends of the Center/ PAFB.

The residents of Casa Carol serenaded the neighborhood with Christmas Caroling under the direction of our own Betsy Gilbert. The children enjoyed delicious treats after the hard work of entertaining our neighbors!

The families were abundantly blessed with fellowship, gifts, and celebration!  Thank you to all who organized, donated, volunteered, caroled, and prayed for our residents at Casa Carol this Christmas Season.

T’was the month before Christmas and I looked ‘round my home,

I was dreading mall shopping, to aimlessly roam.

Deciding what gifts for friends, family and spouse,

overwhelmed and kept me hiding in the house.

Then I recalled a child born in Bethlehem years ago,

in a small humble stable (there was no place else to go).

Then Brevard Rescue Mission popped into my head;

they provide refuge when families are homeless and unfed.

I can make a difference to those families in need!

I can bring hope, and help rescue, restore and relieve.

I will take action and now make my decision

My new giving this season will be to Brevard Rescue Mission!
