Surfers Who Serve

The University of Miami’s Catholic Youth Group, “Surfers Who Serve”,  planned an evening of relay races, jump rope, chalk drawings and good old-fashioned fun for our Kids’ Club!  The mothers enjoyed hearing the squeals of delight from their very happy children! Thank you for serving!

Women Helping Women

The National Association of Women in Construction graciously donated needed items to our resident families!  BRM is consistently overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in our community who reach out to assist those in need!  Thank you ladies!

New Featured Volunteer

After residing in Lakeland for 20 years, and raising her children, Joni Gorman and her husband recently relocated to Melbourne.  She wasted no time getting involved with her new community and the Brevard Rescue Mission has been the beneficiary of her selfless service.  Joni has stepped up to help in more ways than one.  She has lovingly transported residents to doctors’ appointments, stuffed envelopes for mass mailings, consistently tutored resident children, and is currently mentoring adult residents with their finances.  She is a natural mentor and teacher with relevant insights and experience.  Joni brings godly wisdom to every task and takes initiative to go the extra mile.  She bears much fruit in every good work she does for the mission.  Staff and residents alike love and appreciate her.  Thank you Joni!

Some brawny strength was needed at BRM moving furniture back into our newly renovated apartments!  The SUMC men were the perfect answer to prayer! They were willing and able and assisted with electrical work too!  They worked until everything was finished! Thank you for your willingness to volunteer!

Furniture Fun!

As Liz prepares to graduate from Casa Carol, she is working hard to organize her new home.  Liz and her son happily move this donated desk which matches the boy’s bedroom furniture perfectly!  So exciting to launch another resident into self-sufficiency!

The mission team from Prince of Peace Anglican Churchsent a work party to BRM!  They helped us move furniture out of the apartments in preparation for much needed renovations. They also did some painting, weeding, and spring cleaning!

Dr. Suess visits BRM

Brevard alumnae from Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta and Chi Omega hosted an action-packed Dr. Seuss celebration at Kids’ Club as part of their philanthropy effort towards literacy!  The kids got to help make the healthy snacks, created beautiful art, and were all given donated Dr. Suess books.  The highlight was having the books read by none other than Dr. Seuss “himself”! What a great day!
